IT’S A BOY! FEBRUARY 28, 2010.
This is our beautiful baby boy enjoying his first hours of life. Mom and baby are doing just fine and are looking forward to being home. Daniella was amazing throughout labor, and we could not have done this without the help of our awesome doula, Joyce, and our amazing friend, Shira.

FREYCINET NATIONAL PARK – WINE GLASS BAY – TASMANIA – 2009
Considering the ‘unplanned’ element of our month down under, the trip went surprisingly well. We went with the flow, relied on the advise of friends and people we met on the road. We really lived life to the maximum for a month, jumping on and off planes and living out of our bags. That said, there are two things that I would do differently.
I would not book anything through Whitsunday Tours (we’ll save that story for another time) and I would defiantly spend more time in Tasmania.
We hiked through Freycinet National Park to the viewpoint of Wineglass Bay, and before turning back to Hobart, we stopped in the middle of the trees, and we waited. We absorbed the surroundings, watched excited tourists head towards their goal, and appreciated the smiles of the people heading back down having seen the view they’d come for. Time stood still, nothing really mattered. We were just chilling. No plane to catch, no tickets to a show, no hotel check-out or train to catch. Just chilling in the forest.
In the last ten days, I’ve used the phrase “just chilling” more than ever – that’s what our unborn child is doing. No care in the world that we’re waiting for him or her to come out and join us. The baby is absorbing it’s surroundings, enjoy it’s own little “Wineglass Bay moment” and as soon as it’s ready, we’ll be here to greet him or her.

KATA TJUTA AS SEEN FROM THE FOOT OF ULURU – MARCH 2009
From the moment we landed in Sydney, I was in awe of Australia but as much as I admired the Opera House and and soaked up the culture. Until we got to Alice Springs in the Northern Territory we had been based in city centers that shared a lot in common with every big city I have ever visited. The Red Center took my breath away, and our trip to Ayres Rock, known to the natives as Uluru, was a dream come true.
Until now, we had only met or interacted with “the white fella”. Any Aboriginal Australians we had met had either married into modern society, or preserved their traditions via the tourist industry. Australia is a modern society, both blessed and plagued by modern conveniences. While there is a lot of nationalistic pride throughout the country, in Alice Springs we saw another world completely, a world that combined Tribal values with the life we know as normal.
Every time I look at this photo, I remember the heat, the fly nets, and running back from our waiting bus to take this shot. I recall the Dreamtime legends and traditional Aboriginal tales of a culture and faith so rich and struggling to stay strong. Each and every crevice of these mountains and the surrounding lands tell a tale preserved to this very day by the Indigenous Australians. For some of the people we met on this day, these earth formations are their bible.
On that one hand, I know I am privileged to have taken this trip and witnessed these wonders, on the other hand, I am saddened by the fact that I will never go back for a second chance to touch Uluru.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – FEBRUARY 2008
Two years ago, I spent 36 hours in Las Vegas, before driving through the night to LA so that I could meet my girlfriend’s parents for the very first time. We arrived at their home at 4am and slept for a little. Before Noon the next day, permission had been granted, and I proposed. Daniella found her wedding dress and engagement party followed before the day was out, and by the time the weekend came around again, we’d planned our wedding.
Two years later, we’re patiently waiting for our child to join us in the world, patiently waiting for labor to start so we can continue the adventure of life!
I wonder where we’ll be two years from now.

WEST PIER, HOVE ACTUALLY, UK – 2007
With our due date being just a few days away, our house is being reorganized as we prepare for the new life that will be joining us. In the process my wife found a pile of photos that I’d intended to frame, and never got round to do anything with. One of them was this West Pier photo. Forgetting I’d already added that photo to my site, I swore it would be the next one I shared. This photo of the decaying West Pier was taken the same morning. Between the ruins the former Palace Pier, renamed Brighton Pier can be seen, but at this time of day, it was just me, my camera and the birds soaking up the fresh morning air.
